Over the extended Bank Holiday Weekend, 2nd to 5th June 2012, Collingham will be hosting a range of celebrations to which everyone in the village, their friends and families are invited. Many of the village organisations led by the Parish Council have been involved in the preparations and this is what is planned so far:

• On Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd June the History Society are putting on an exhibition in the Memorial Hall about Royal Celebrations in Collingham. The Jubilee Cake will also be on display and subsequently distributed to villagers who are housebound.

• Sunday 3rd June is the date for this year’s Collingham Open Gardens.

• Monday 4th June is the village picnic and family fun day. It will be held at the Cricket Club and will start at 2pm and finish at midnight. Please bring with you your own tables, chairs, rugs and gazebos. You will also need your own food and drink. There will be an ice cream van there all afternoon and from early evening onwards a hog roast. There will not be any other food outlets, but the Cricket Club will be running a bar. There will be a range of activities on offer for all ages including a bouncy castle and treasure hunt for the children, and various sporting activities organised by the sports clubs within the village.

• Entertainment during the afternoon will be provided by Retford Male Voice Choir, Collingham Singers, Adverse Camber and a couple of young bands. This will be followed by Decent Chaps from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and a disco in the Club House until midnight. At some stage during the evening, a beacon will be lit as part of the chain of beacons across the country.

• On Tuesday 5th June, the celebrations will be rounded off with a non-denominational service at John Blow School organised by Churches Together.

• As part of the celebrations, we would also like to encourage all villagers to decorate their houses and streets and there will be a competition for Best Decorated House for those who wish to enter. Click on the links above to print off an application form. or a Best Dressed House poster.

• To fund the event we will be running a Jubilee Raffle with excellent prizes, so look out for the tickets with the Jubilee logo.
